No. 14 The universe is all darkness that has been lit by the appearance of the True One in it. So anybody who sees the universe but does not see Him anywhere in it must have been made denied the lights and must have had the suns of knowledge hidden from him by removing the signs. No 15 Among the signs you have on his omnipotence (glory be to Him) is that He has veiled Himself from you by things that do not exist with Him. No 16 How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when it is He who made everything manifest? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is manifest by everything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is manifest in everything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is manifest to everything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He was manifest before the existence of anything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is more manifest than anything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is the One with whom there nothing? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when He is nearer to you than anything? How can it be thought that He may be veiled by something, when without Him nothing would have existed? Strange! How can existence come out of nothingness? No. 33 The True One is not veiled. It is you who has been veiled from looking at Him. If He could be veiled by something, that thing would have hidden Him. If He could be hidden by something, it would have meant that His presence could be limited. But anything that limits something is omnipotent over it, yet “ He is Omnipotent over His slaves” (6.18). No. 137 You have not been veiled from Allah by something that exists with Him, but you have been veiled from Him by your delusion that something exists with Him. No. 139 He has made everything manifest because He is the Hidden One. He has hidden everything because he is the Manifest One. No. 164 The True One has been veiled from you by His very close nearness to you. No. 165 He is veiled by the very intensity of His being apparent, and He is invisible to the eyes by the greatness of His light. No. 218 How can the True One be veiled by something when He is apparent, present, and existent in the very thing that veils Him? Copyright © 2009 Translated by Louay Fatoohi |
